Everyone and everything here is foreign.
The only recognisable sight
is the China man and his camera.
Streets fall off my map,
lampposts wade in water
and sky scrappers block out the sun.
I am smaller than the ants
eating out for lunch
and the garbage claiming a seat
on the only bench in the park.
People howl into telephones,
their words mean nothing to me.
Lights flicker everywhere
and then it goes dark.
